Covering almost 3,000-acres of the Edwards Plateau, this spectacular park is an unspoiled piece of paradise in Texas. It's famous for the groves of Bigtooth Maple and Texas red oaks, which turn vibrant shades of reds and oranges during the fall season. The park opened to the public in 1979, after the state purchased the land from several private owners. Before that, it was mostly inhabited by native Apache tribes, Spanish settlers, and even ranchers and farmers. Between the wildflower fields, flowing rivers, and ascending canyon walls, you'll be awe-struck by the park's sheer beauty from the moment you arrive. Besides admiring the color-changing leaves in autumn, you can also go hiking, fishing, and birdwatching in the park. Overnight guests can also choose the spend the night at one of their 30 designated campsites.
