East Trail Details

Ideal for a brisk autumn hike, this trail has plenty to offer in terms of natural beauty. It is located in Lost Maples State Natural Area, and as its name implies, the park is teeming with hundreds of picturesque maple trees. This 4.5-mile trek wanders through the park and allows you to explore the stunning shades of reds, oranges, and browns. Although it is best toured during the fall, this trail is still a great option no matter the time of year or season. It crosses untamed rivers and meanders through rocky limestone cliffs while boasting up-close views of the maple trees and lush surroundings. A small section of the trail is a bit steep, although the views of the Sabinal River and rolling countryside are easily worth the extra effort.
