Franconia Notch State Park Details
With soaring peaks, rugged cliffs, and sparkling lakes, this park is the crown gem of the White Mountains National Forest. Besides visiting the big-name attractions of Flume Gorge, Echo Lake, and the Old Man of the Mountain historical site, the unique landscape of the park is suited for all types of year-round outdoor activities. In the spring and summer, mountain biking and hiking are very popular, although many visitors also head to Echo Lake for a day of swimming and boating. In the winter, Cannon Mountain attracts skiers and snowboarders from around the world for its world-renown slopes. Visitors can also enjoy a visit to the New England Ski Museum or a ride up the Cannon Mountain aerial tramway. With so much to see and do here, it is worth spending a couple of nights camping at the Lafayette Place Campground. It is the perfect base for exploring what this remarkable park has to offer.
