Ask a local about this natural wonder, and they will be more than happy to tell you about its significance. This granite ledge once held the exact shape of a mans face, making it a popular attraction for over 200 years. You will see it on license plates, state route signs, and even the official New Hampshire state emblem. Unfortunately, the face collapsed in 2003 due to a large crack over the forehead of the face. Although the old man is no longer visible, there is a memorial along Profile Lake that you can visit to pay your respects.
