Franconia Notch Ridge Trail Details

Traversing three different mountain White Mountain peaks, this 9-mile trail is one of the best (and most popular) hikes in New Hampshire. You will start by climbing up Little Haystack Mountain before crossing over to Mount Lincoln. From there, you will walk along a narrow ridge until you reach the peak of Mount Lafayette, the tallest mountain in the state out of the Presidential Range. Although the trek up and down to the mountains is shaded by trees, the walk between the three summits is very much exposed. While you will have fantastic views of the park, it also means you should be prepared for extreme conditions. The weather at the ridge can be drastically different than at the foothills.
