Bowman Lake Campground Details
Bowman Lake's 48 camp sites are accessible by dirt road and situated near the turquoise waters of its namesake lake. The small campground is located near the town of Polebridge, Montana, where there are limited services. This area, about 30 miles from the West Entrance, is much quieter than other more campgrounds in the park, in part because it's a dusty, bumpy ride on dirt roads to get there. It's not recommended for RVs or trucks and trailers due to the narrow road conditions. You'll enjoy the quiet at Bowman Lake, but be sure to bring bug repellent and mosquito netting. You can hike in the area, as well as canoe and kayak on the lake. Motorized boats are limited to those with 10 horsepower or less. There are pit toilets and potable water. Sites are first-come, first-served, and cost $15 from the end of May to mid-September. From mid-September to the end of October, water isn't available at the campground, and sites cost $10 a night. Glacier is bear country, and black bears and grizzlies can frequent the campground. Food must be properly stored at all times and garbage put in bear-proof trash cans.
