Quartz Lake Loop Trail Details
This hike is one of only two true day hike loops in Glacier National Park. The Quartz Lake Loop, which is located in the North Fork Area of the park, takes you along Bowman Lake, then to Quartz Lake, Middle Quartz Lake and Lower Quartz Lake. You can hike this loop in either direction, but most people head clockwise; it's easier in terms of elevation, and more scenic. After hiking through the forest you'll arrive at Quartz Lake, framed by peaks in the distance. You'll then visit Middle Quartz Lake and then Lower Quartz Lake, both pleasant mountain lakes. You can also hike to just one of the lakes, but if you have the time you should take advantage of the loop option. Remember, Glacier is grizzly country. Carry bear spray, make noise and travel in groups. Trailhead is at Bowman Lake.
