Pemetic Mountain Details
This mountain gets its name from the early Native American name for the Mount Desert Island area, "Pemetic," which means "sloping land," and it's accessible via the Pemetic Mountain Northwest Trail. This is one of the great peaks of Acadia and is comparable in size to Dorr and Sargent Mountains. The trek to the summit involves some steep, strenuous climbing, but the scenery makes it worth the effort. You'll ascend through forested cliffs that make way to wondrous granite formations. The views at the top are unhindered and overlook Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, and Bubble Pond.
