Pemetic Mountain Northwest Trail Details
Pemetic Northwest Trail (formerly known as the Bubbles-Pemetic Trail) is the last trail created on Pemetic Mountain. The trails begins with very pretty views of the oblong, 32-acre Bubble Pond, however, these quickly disappear as the trail heads into the forests. Using log handrails, steps, and ladders as support, the trail climbs steadily, becoming less and less strenuous as it ascends and enters the windy cliffs near the Pemetic summit. The summit, Acadia's 4th highest, offers spectacular panoramas over Mount. Desert Island. The mountain gets its name from the early Native American name for the Mount Desert Island area, "Pemetic," which means "sloping land." Trailhead: Across from Bubble Rock Parking Lot.
