Bubble Rock Overlook Details

Bubble Rock is one of Acadia's larger erratics, or "rocks from away" -- boulders once entombed in glaciers that were deposited across the landscape as the ice melted. This particular boulder, which weighs about 14 tons, was carried to the side of Penebscot Mountain from an area about 20 miles away, between Bangor and Ellsworth. If you want a closer look at Bubble Rock, the South Bubble trail is just down the road; look for the sign for Bubble Rock trailhead parking.
