Bubbles Trail Details
This Trail (formally known as North Bubble Trail) is a heavily used, popular trail leading up the North Bubble, one of the massive pink granite slopes that have probably become Maine's most famous rocks. The short, wide path varies from a level beginning to steep ascents over rocky ledges near the summit that are lined with scree walls built by park volunteers to encourage hikers to stay on the trail. The shady, northern hardwood forest, one of the few on the island after the fire of 1947, thins out near the summit giving way to Acadia's characteristic pitch pines and wild blueberries as well as views of Eagle Lake and Frenchman Bay. Trailhead: From Bubble Rock Parking Area.
