A 2.4-mile strenuous out-and-back hike with several ladders to assist you. Situated between Bubble Pond and Jordan Pond, Pemetic Mountain is not the name of the mountain but the original word for the entire landscape, meaning "sloping land." Though not the tallest mountain, it is comparable in size to the largest slopes of Acadia National Park. With four trails of varying difficulty leading to the summit, hikers have the choice of route from family-friendly to interesting. One route, The Pemetic Northwest Trail, even utilizes ladders to climb the steep granite rocks toward breathtaking views.
