Mystic Island Lake Details

This lake in the Holy Cross Wilderness of the northwestern Sawatch Range surrounded by massive rock formations and lush green forests. As with most mountainous lakes, the only way to reach this swimming hole is by hiking. The entire journey is 4-miles along, and there are plenty of other natural sights to see along the way including Lake Charles. So, where does the Island part of its name come from? In the summer when the water levels are lower, you will find a small bit of land floating close to shore. It is fun to tred through the shallow blue waters to visit the tiny island in the middle of this beautiful mountain range.
