Bald Mountain Preserve Details

Bald Mountain Preserve is one of the exceptionally popular stops in Maine due to its sweeping scenes of the coast. As the name would suggest, the bald peak provides for unobstructed viewing, and, being the fifth tallest elevation on the east coast, the Bald Mountain Trail is often bustling with hikers. A moderate 2.4-mile out-and-back hike, the 1,280-foot elevation not only provides for beautiful outlooks but also creates a uniquely rare subalpine ecosystem. Signs along the approximate mile and a half of trails give visitors an insight into the rare habitat and species that grow there.
