Eagle Lake Public Land Details

Eagle Lake Public Land is a mostly forested area often used for logging with it's gently rolling hills and tall trees. The area is a total of 23,000 acres encompassing most of Eagle Lake. One side of the public land is also stopped by Square Lake, making it the connection between the two bodies of water for visitors wanting to lake hop. Enjoyed for fishing and water recreation, the lake was named by soldiers during the Aroostook War. As they made their way through the wilderness, Eagles were often seen. Being close to Canada, it is interesting to note that almost half of the town also speaks French.
