Sarvant Glacier Details
The Sarvant Glacier, located on the northern slopes of the Cowlitz Chimneys, begins at about 7,000 feet and descends north down to about 6,100 feet. Several permanent patches of ice and snow can be found east and west of the main glacier, and those on the west side are referred to as the Sarvant Glaciers. The glacier is named after Henry M. Sarvant, a surveyor and engineer who first mapped Mount Rainier in 1894.
