Glacier Basin Trail Details
Hike on an old mining road along the White River and then up to Glacier Basin, where there's a camp used by climbers attempting to summit Rainier. A path from the Glacier Basin camp leads through a wetland area to the Inter Glacier, which climbers ascend as they make their way to Steamboat Prow and Camp Shurman. Find the trailhead for the Glacier Basin Trail at the upper end of the White River Campground (make sure you leave your car in the parking area designated for day hikers, not in the campground).
