San Jose Island Details

With sun-soaked views of the Gulf of Mexico and Aransas Bay, this beachy barrier island has an extensive history that dates back almost 200 years. Not only was it a successful port city during the Civil War and Union Army, but it was on its shores where the first American flag was flown over Texas. The island is also centrally located next to many other scenic attractions along the Gulf, including Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, and Mustang Island. Because this is a private island, you will need to take the Jetty Boat from Port Aransas if you want to visit. However, due to its exclusivity, you will rarely have to fight for a secluded spot on the sand.
