Hill Country State Natural Area Details
Visit this park and enjoy over 5,000 acres of grasslands, steep canyons, and babbling creeks. You'll find that the Woodard Cave Fault runs through the center of the park, creating an otherworldly landscape native to this part of Bandera County. Native American tribes and European settlers both inhabited the park over the last few centuries, and human remains have even been discovered on the grounds. In the mid-1800s, the land was used as a ranch until it was donated to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. There are several different trails that can be used for hiking, cycling, or horseback riding. You can also choose to spend the night in a primitive campsite, or if you're traveling with a group, you can book the 1930s-style ranch house and lodge.
