Devil's Den Trail Details
The Devil's Den Trailhead can be found 1.5 miles from the road by following the Dog Canyon Trail. The Dog Canyon Trailhead is located 3.5 miles south of the Persimmon Gap Visitor Center. The Dog Canyon Trail splits at the creek and that is where you can find the trailhead for the Devil's Den Trail. The Devil's Den Trail is a moderate, 5.8 mile out and back hike gaining 429 feet in elevation. Some people say that the canyon is a slot canyon, but that isn't correct. Slot canyons are significantly deeper than they are wide and they are created by a hairline crack in the rock that rushing water moves through to eventually create a larger crack. This canyon is not very wide, but it is wide enough to not be considered a slot canyon.
