Ira to Botzum (Towpath Trail) Details

Unlike the other sections of the Towpath Trail, this segment does not follow the Ohio & Erie Canal, simply because it is not longer there. This area of the canal was destroyed to broaden a nearby road in the 1930s, and only some uninspiring stones of Locks 24 and 25 remain along the side of the trail. Otherwise the trail makes for a pretty hike under a hardwood canopy across relatively flat terrain. Near the Botzum Trailhead there is access to the Botzum Farmstead, which offers outdoor events seasonally.
