Ira Trailhead Details

Located between the beaver marsh, the Hale Farm & Village, and the Conrad Botzum Farmstead, this trailhead serves as a great gateway to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and the Buckeye Trail. Once named "Hawkins Trailhead" after a local citizen, the trailhead's name was changed of Hawkins' first name, Ira, to avoid confusion with another Hawkins, Ohio. The area is surrounded by arching mixed hardwoods and small hills and ravines; unlike the majority of the Towpath Trail, the area surrounding experiences some moderate elevation change.
