Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route Details

This designated National Scenic Byway is a short but picturesque drive for 33 miles through the floodplains of both the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. The starting point of the trip begins in Hartford, and travels along the water where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the forest-green limestone bluffs until Grafton. Although you could easily make the entire drive in under an hour, there are several noteworthy side trips and detours that you can take to extend your trip. Learn about explorers and early expeditions at the Lewis & Clark State Historic Site or visit the locks and dam at the National Great Rivers Museum. Between the stunning landscapes and fascinating attractions, you could easily spend several days driving and exploring this route.
