In fact, it is the only part of the entire highway that is a designed National Scenic Byway. Coming in from Indianapolis, you will first encounter the bustling towns of Frankfort and Joliet, before heading north to visit Aurora, Batavia, and Geneva. From there, you will be a beeline west as you parallel I-88 a few more century-old small-towns including DeKalb, Rochelle, and Franklin Grove.
