Mrazek Pond Details
A world-class location for nature photography, Mrazek Pond is a great bet for those looking to see native birds. The pond is located seven miles north of Flamingo, right off the main park road. During the winter season, over 500 herons, egrets, storks, and spoonbills visit the pond in a feeding frenzy. This usually only happens once or twice during the winter for no longer than two weeks at a time, but when it does, it is a wonder to behold. During the summer and spring, however, Mrazek can be completely empty. Calling the park for information on Mrazek can be helpful if you're looking to hit the pond at the right time. Early March is a good bet for the most avian activity.
