Ridge Lakes Trail Details
The Ridge Lakes Trail is short and steep, with rewarding views. The hike, a two-mile round trip, ends at two small alpine lakes cradled between Brokeoff Mountain and Mt. Diller. If you hike the Ridge Lakes Trail in July or August, you may be fortunate enough to see the wildflowers of Lassen at their peak. On a clear day, frequent stops and overlooks along the trail provide views of Sulphur Works and Sulphur Creek. After switchbacking through a forest, hikers will find themselves at the lake basin. Though the steep trail gains 1,000 feet in one mile, this is a great option for those looking to get into the alpine area of the park in a short amount of time. Park at the Sulphur Works parking area, which is a mile past the Southwest Entrance. Fill up water bottles at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee visitor center beforehand. There are restrooms at the trailhead.
