A hotbed of geothermal activity, Sulphur Works is a must-see if traveling through the park. A short path, accessible from the main park road, loops around active steam vents and bubbling mud pots. You'll smell the hydrogen sulfide - yes, rotten eggs -- as you approach. The largest mud pot is about five feet wide, and right next to the boardwalk. Remember to stay on the established trail -- visitors have suffered burns when wandering off the beaten path.
