Manzanita Lake Trail Details
Best known for its morning views of the Chaos Crags and Lassen Peak, the Manzanita Lake Trail is an easy trip with negligible elevation gain, making it a great alternative to tackling some of Lassen's more difficult hikes. The trail is well-shaded and winds along the shores of Manzanita Lake, offering quite a few opportunities for photos and stops to take in the scenery. This is also a great hike for wildlife viewing: expect to see ducks, geese, and even the occasional beaver, muskrat, and deer. The trail loops around the lake, so pick it up anywhere between the Loomis Museum and the Manzanita Lake picnic area.
