Juniper Lake Details
No power boats are allowed in Lassen Volcanic National Park, making it a great place for those looking for a serene place to kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard. Juniper Lake has a small campsite: just 18 primitive sites are available. There are plenty of places situated along the shore to launch your boat; due of the remoteness of the area, it's recommended that you paddle the lake with a partner. Though the road here is not as bumpy as the one to Butte Lake, it's unpaved, so use caution. Early in the season, the road down to the lake may be gated if it is too muddy. Campsites and lake access is still available, but you may need to carry everything about a half mile. The best time to paddle Juniper Lake mid summer to mid-September, when the air and lake temperature is warm. Boat rentals are available from the Manzanita Camper Store.
