Crystal Lake Trail Details
The hike to Crystal Lake is a great option for those camped at Juniper Lake or if you have a limited amount of time in the park. The hike is short -- just .8 miles round trip -- and consists of moderate switchbacks that do a good job of getting the legs burning and the lungs working. You'll climb 450 feet up to the lake, which lies in a basin at the rim of a rocky valley. Rocks lining the shore make a great spot to picnic or relax. In the summer, the lake turns a bright green/deep blue, making Crystal one of the most beautiful of Lassen's lakes. Crystal Lake has its own trailhead, which is located .3 miles north of the Juniper Lake Campground.
