Watts Towers of Simon Rodia State Historic Park Details
Attracting artists, poets, and visionaries from around the world, this state park is one of the more unique places to visit in California and a landmark of Los Angeles. It houses an art installation of 17 interconnected towers designed and built by Italian artist Sabato Rodia. Rodia built these towers on his own property over the course of 33 years, from 1921 to 1954. These steel and concrete towers are covered with glass, porcelain, and tiled mosaics and decorated with one-off objects like mirrors, seashells, and small figurines. Guided tours are given of the property, although you can still marvel at the towers from outside the park.
