South Yuba River State Park Details

Stretching for 20 miles along the banks of the South Yuba River, this park has plenty to offer nature lovers, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts. Your first stop should be the waterfall on the South Fork, which is one of the most beautiful spots in the park. If you are feeling especially lucky, then you can spend the day panning for gold (visitors are allowed to keep whatever gold they find!). Then make your way to the Bridgeport Covered Bridge, which is the longest single-span covered bridge in the world. Other historic sites included the Bridgeport Mining Camp, the abandoned Virginia Turnpike, and the cement Highway 49 Bridge. Or you can simply venture down one of the dozen or so trails that wind through the park.
