The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge holds one of the largest coastal dune systems left in California. The complex of dunes is recognized as a National Natural Landmark. The boundary of the refuge has 1.8 miles of beachfront, which is ideal for fishing barred surf perch. The 2,553 acre area is full of visitor-friendly activities like photographing the dunes and freshwater ponds, and learning about the 200 plus plant species and 100 coastal avian species during one of the planned family interpretive hikes that take place each year.
