Kenny Lake Trail Details
The Kenny Lake Trail is not maintained by the National Park Service. It is accessible at mile 5.5 on the Edgerton Highway in Kenny Lake, AK. The trailhead is behind the Kenny Lake School, across the grassy field at the cut between the tree line. You can park at the school. From the trailhead, head to your left and continue following the trail to the bluff. Here, turn left again and continue to a second viewpoint with a bench. Continue left to parallel the river and follow the trail downhill, eventually leading you to the Tonsina River. Kenny Lake was historically significant as a trading post during the boom at the Kennecott Copper Mine in the Wrangell Mountains. Today it is an agricultural community with a population of 430 residents. This area can be buggy; don't forget insect repellent.
