Copper Visitor Center Details
This is the park's main visitor center and has most services visitors could need. Located 10 miles south of the intersection of the Glenn and Richardson Highways, the complex includes the visitor center, a bookstore, exhibit hall, theater, restrooms, picnic tables and shelter, an amphitheater, the Ahtna Cultural Center, scenic overlooks and short hiking trails. The visitor center is a great place to plan excursions in the park, get the latest updates on weather and conditions, and learn more about the park's backcountry. During the summer rangers provide guided talks and programs daily. The Ahtna Cultural Center is owned and operated by the Ahtna Heritage Foundation and has exhibits and a museum with staff available to answer questions. The visitor center hours vary by season and may alter based on weather conditions. Below are the general scheduled hours. Call the visitor center to confirm hours in the non-summer months, (907) 822-7250. Summer (mid-May to mid-September): open daily from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Fall (late-September to late-October): Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Closed on federal holidays. Winter (November through March): Closed. If you need assistance call park headquarters at (907) 822-5234. Spring (April through mid-May): Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Closed on federal holidays.
