Murt Camping Barn Details

A stone barn offering simple overnight shelter for walkers and cyclists. The barns are roomy and offer a wooden sleeping platform, table, cooking bench, cold tap and toilet, a bucket and bowls, and clothes hooks and trash bags. Murt, in the Wasdale Valley, dates back to 1728. The barn is a converted stone hayloft and cowshed, part of the group of farm buildings attached to the farmhouse. Campers will enjoy great views of the Scafell Massif and the surrounding fells. The barn is 3/4-mile from Wastwater and makes for an ideal base for high fell walks, including Scafell Pike, Mosedale Horseshoe, Great Gable and Screes Tops. Hikers can enjoy direct access to footpaths and bridle-ways. Coastal dune walks, Muncaster Castle and Ravensglass are also nearby, as are the two village pubs, only 10 minutes by foot. The sleeping and cooking areas are on the first floor; the shower, toilet and wash basin are on the ground floor. Electricity is metered and takes £1 coins; you'll need it for light, the shower, water heater and electric heater. Guests must bring their own cooking equipment and utensils with you, including a cook stove. No pets are allowed. The barn sleeps eight and check in is after 4 p.m. Checkout is at 10 a.m. Group bookings at the camping barns within the Lake District are welcome, and they offer a capacity of between eight and 18 people. The barns cost £10.00 ($14.50) per person per night, and you can book at [http://www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk/](http://www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk/).
