One of the Lake District's most dramatic lakes, Wastwater is the region's deepest at 260 feet and is surrounded by mountains, including Red Pike, Kirk Fell, Great Gable, and Scafell Pike, England's highest. No sail or rowboats are allowed, but kayaks and canoes can use the lake, with a maximum of 10 boats on the water at one time. Swimming is also allowed.
