Canyon de Chelly National Monument Details

Canyon de Chelly National Monument includes three beautiful canyons in northeast Arizona: the namesake de Chelly, Canyon del Muerto, and Monument Canyon. Th park prtects not only a dramatic desert landscape but also the ruins of ancient Navajo and Pueblo dwellings carved into the canyon walls. Managed jointly by the National Park Service and the Navajo Nation, the park includes scenic roads along the north and south canyon rims. A single public trail leads down to the floor of the canyon. Further exploration must be done in the company of a Navajo guide and can include tours by vehicle and horseback as well as hiking and camping.
