San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park Details

Ships of every size, design and purpose comprise the main collection at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, which educates visitors about the rich marine history of the San Francisco Bay area and the Pacific Coast. Interactive exhibits and artifacts are on display at the park visitor center, located in a former cannery warehouse in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf district. Historic vessels are tied up at Hyde Street Pier and open for tours, including the 1886 square-rigger Balclutha, the California-built schooner C.A. Thayer, the wood-hulled ferry Eureka, and a houseboat dating to 1890. The park's Maritime Museum is located in the Aquatic Park Bathhouse building, a landmark streamline moderne structure on the San Francisco waterfront. Established: June 27, 1988 Area: 50 acres
