Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge Details

Over 900 acres of coast, tidal mudflat, a system of channels, and salt marsh habitats make up the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge in Orange County. In the late 1980s, hundreds of foxes were trapped and killed here because they actively threatened a couple of endangered bird species. The refuge is located on an active military base, so public access is limited to one monthly guided-tour.
