This birding destination right off the Pacific Coast Highway makes it easy to spend the day looking for rare winged creatures. Take a short walk along the looped boardwalk trail that leads through the saltwater marshes and mudflats and takes you up close and personal to many shorebirds that live in the reserve. Over 25 species of ducks, three types of loons, and five species of grebes have been spotted over the last few years. It is also possible to see nesting Snowy Plovers and endangered Least Terns on their way south for the winter.
