Palomar Mountain State Park Details

The landscape of this park is rather unusual for Southern California. It has a unique Sierra Nevada-like environment, with towering pine, fir, and cedar trees covering most of the 1,862-acre property. Coupled with the high-elevation, this shady forest is a great place to escape the heat of the Southern California sun. For the best views, visit the Boucher Hill Summit (via a hiking trail or scenic drive). There is an operating fire tower at the top and an observation deck where you can see Pauma Valley, Santiago Peak, the Coronado Islands, and Cuyamaca Peak.
