Cedar Creek Falls + Devils Punchbowl Details
This is one of the more unique places to go swimming in San Diego. The 80-foot waterfall plunges down rocky canyon cliffs into a tepid green pool at the bottom. Although it is a popular place for swimmers, visitors can only reach the waterfall via a steep 3-mile hike down into the gorge. But be careful because of the tall canyon walls, the temperature at the bottom of the gorge can be 10 to 15-degrees hotter. Although the refreshing waters can help temporarily, remember that you will still need to hike back out of the canyon. For this reason, the trip is not recommended during summer when the temperatures are at their highest.
