Townshend State Park Details

This park is a great base for exploring the 1,680-foot tall Bald Mountain. It is located at the base on the northern side of the slopes and is close to the Bald Mountain Hiking Trail and ascends to the top of the summit. The park itself is 41-acres and is mostly centered around a rustic campground that was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Most of the structures have not changed since they were built almost 100 years ago, making this one of the best-preserved CCC sites in the state of Vermont.
