Monadnock State Park Details
Between the untouched highland forests and scenic summit views, this park is one of the more popular destinations in New Hampshire for hiking. This designated National Natural Landmark covers over 1,000 acres of land, mostly encompassing the mighty Mount Monadnock. With a peak of 3,165-feet, this mountain is one of the tallest in the state, so naturally, a trek to the summit is a popular choice amongst hikers. However, there are other alternative side-trails that lead around the scenic valleys for those who are not interested in the steep ascent. While hiking is possible in spring and summer, the mountain becomes a paradise for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. Visitors can also choose to spend the night at one of the two campgrounds in the park.
