This park is located in the heart of Tom Green County. The scenery is nothing short of breathtaking, as the winding Concho River meanders through the rolling plains and grasslands, creating a unique diversity of both land and water ecosystems. Archeologists suggest that human life dates back over 18,000 years when Paleo-Americans would roam the land hunting for prehistoric animals and creatures. And while those Ice Age mammals are no longer around, you might encounter a herd of wild American bison that live within the park's gates. Hikers will also have a wealth of trails at their disposal. There are over 50 miles of paths in the park, suitable for trekkers, cyclers, and even horseback riders. Families with younger kids can also embark on the informative Dinosaur Trail, where they'll be able to see fossils and remnants of creatures that once walked the earth.
