Ray Roberts Lake State Park Details
Tucked inside this park is the namesake body of water, after which it was named - Lake Ray Roberts. This massive, 29,350-acre lake is not only used to supply water to the neighboring countries, but it's also a destination where you can participate in a variety of outdoor activities. The reservoir is part of the Trinity River Basin and continues to be one of Dallas' and Denton's primary sources of water. Although the park was founded in 1993, the state leases the land from the U.S. Amry Corps of Engineers as well as from the cities of Dallas and Denton. Boaters can head towards the marina, which has a rental shop, a grocery store, and a boat repair area. Although there are no lifeguards on the shores, the lake is still a pleasant place to go swimming or kayaking. Hikers can explore the 20-mile Greenbelt Corridor, while horseback riders can wander along the paved trails of Johnson Branch or Isle du Bois.
