Mission Tejas State Park Details
On the northed edge of the Davy Crockett National Forest sits this state park. With over 660-acres of loblolly pine forests, the park is an outdoor paradise for both history buffs and adventure lovers. The history of the land around the park dates back several centuries when it was originally home to native Caddo settlers. Before it became part of the Texas Forest Service in 1957, this area attracted Spanish colonies who built the Mission San Francisco de los Tejas. While the original structure was burned down, you'll still be able to see a reconstructed model of what the mission once looked like. In addition to the historic structures, it also has an abundance of fishing, hiking, and camping opportunities. There are 8.5 miles of trails to explore, some paths of which were part of the El Camino Real de los Tejas, which was built by the Spanish in the late 1600s.
