Four C Trail Details
The Davy Crockett National Forest has several wonderful trails, including this 20-mile multi-day hike that begins at the Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area. This area was once used by the Central Coal and Coke Company until the mid-1920s, and you will navigate through abandoned sawmills and old railway tracks that were used during its operations. As you continue past the tramway and deep into the oak forest, you will find a few campgrounds and stopping points where you can spend the night. It is worth waking up bright and early the next morning to continue your journey to the Neches Bluff overlook, which provides a dramatic view over the treetops and canopies.
