The Davy Crockett National Forest is home to numerous outdoor activities although nothing beats a day of swimming here in the lake! This 45-acre lake was once a log pond that was used by the Central Coal and Coke Company sawmill in the early 1900s. In the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps remodeled the park and built many modern-day facilities to make it more accessible to visitors and guests. Now, it is a popular place for swimming, picnicking, and camping. A portion of the lake is roped off and reserved just for swimmers. If you are traveling with kids, then you will be happy to know that the waters are calm and shallow enough for them to paddle around.
